BLOG POST

Day one or one day.

How does one even begin a blog?

Do I start with who I am today? Who I was 5 years ago? Who I was 49 years ago? Do I even make this about me?

Not one to dwell on the past, I'll start where I am right now. Literally. A quote I try to live by is "be where your feet are". Well, right now my feet are sitting at a sweet little table, with a delicious caramel latte, listening to jazz music and the hustle & bustle of people traveling. My feet at the moment are across from my husbands, as he too sits on his computer, most likely learning Italian or saving the world one cyber security issue at a time. My feet are in the Delta Sky Club, Concourse A, Detroit airport.

Who am I to be sitting in the Sky Club?? I wonder that every time I step foot in one. We are just two middle class people who made a million little decisions that landed us here. Decisions are funny, aren't they? The average person makes about 35,000 decisions a day! I used to get so stressed when I had to make a decision. Especially big ones. But one day my husband gave me some incredible advice. Well, I suppose after 33 years together he's actually given me a ton of great advice. But this one sentence in particular changed the way I make decisions.

When you find yourself trying to decide between two options. Always go with the one that brings you the most joy. Profound isn't it? We always want to make the "right" decision but what if we went with the "joyful" one instead. Life is too short to always be right... joy outranks right every time for me.

For now I'll joyfully sit in the Sky Club, dreaming big about our future while we wait for our flight to Miami.

    Until next time..

Your friend Carie (with one r)
